First Meeting!

We had our first team meeting tonight, and though not everyone could make it, it was a wonderful time to discuss, prepare, plan and dream about how this trip could take shape and make a lasting impact in many lives! It is a blessing to be surrounded by like-minded, Christ-loving people who are willing to set aside their gifts, abilities and resources to do this. This is a passion for me and in many ways, going back to Ethiopia will feel like going home. But I am so pleased that God has raised up a team of radical risk takers who are going to be a huge blessing to me personally on this trip.

Praying for clarity for the few remaining folks who are deciding if they are going to go for sure as well as blessings during our brief support raising time. We leave in just about 3 months!! That is going to come fast!

Thanks to all who made it tonight. We appreciate any prayers.

SAFE Ministry Missions Trip - Sept. 2010

In September, SAFE Ministry is sponsoring a missions trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to serve alongside Yezelalem Minch and search for ways that Parkview and other believers in Eastern Iowa can be caring for orphans, even when they might be on the other side of the world.

I hope to use this in combination with the SAFE Ministry website to keep people up to date on all the details of this trip.

It has been just one year since I was in Ethiopia meeting our amazing son Esias Tesfaye.

While there, my wife Shadley and I were fortunate to stay in the Morning Coffee Guesthouse with Birtukan and Nesibu, the visionary and founder of Yezelalem Minch, respectively. We were so blessed by their hospitality and friendship, but even more by the shining example they were of believers living out James 1:27 - Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

I look forward to keeping you all informed and hope that you will be praying for this upcoming trip. If you are interested in supporting the team or helping provide donations, please contact me at safemin@parkviewchurch.org and/or check out my support raising info here.
